World war 2 was a conflict in scale never seen since the great war of the early 1910s. it required a huge mobilization of troops and forced industry to ramp up production to keep up the war effort. there were many ways nations raised their armies for war today we will focus on the effects of advertisement in the war. advertisements were used to mobilize civilians to either join the fight directly, buy war bonds, save food or work in jobs that helped the effort such as production labor and farming. these advertisements were effective enough to convince people from colonized nations to fight on the same side as those who subjected them, but for the most part colonized people were forced into compulsory service by their colonizers to fight a war that didn't affect them. advertisements were also used by all nations in the conflict to push a narrative about the conflict and to improve citizen morale while many had to suffer through the cold injustices of war in the modern era. advertisements were also used in conquered or liberated territories to dissuade citizen unrest or to communicate that they have been liberated from axis rule.
