As you walk in the door after what felt like the longest day ever you reach over and check the mailbox. As you are reaching in you wonder how many circulars and junk mail you will have to toss out this time. You shake your head as you go through each piece and chuck it into the trash. You stop short when you see an envelope that says certified email and has your mothers name on it. You look for a return address, but notice that there is no address listed. You start to wonder who in the world would be writing to your mother and why would they need to send it certified mail. The more you think about it the more you know that it can’t be junk mail because it was certified and anyone willing to go through the extra trouble must have something important to say. You toss the envelope on the table and head to your room. You drift off to sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow. Your curiosity must have been at the highest level because right away you start to dream about the letter. In your dream you discover the identity of the sender and are shocked at what this person has to say to your mom. Create a story that includes the purpose of the letter, the need for it to be certified, and what the expectation is for your mom. Is this letter one that impacts your whole family or does it just concern your mom? Is receiving the letter a positive thing or is it something that is better left alone? As you write make your dream come to life and draw your reader into your experience. Remember to use specific details, and experiences to make the story interesting as well as creative. The more descriptive you are the better your writing will be because it will allow the reader to truly see your story as realistic.
