The Reluctant Dad
Instructions
Write an argumentative essay on the following case scenario. Discuss the relevant facts, moral principles, rights, etc. involved in the case, especially those covered in the textbook. Evaluate these criteria in light
of one of the following ethical theories: natural law theory (secular or religious), utilitarianism (post-Mill), Kantian deontology, or virtue ethics (Aristotelian or Care Ethics). Given the chosen ethical theory, craft a
robust moral argument about what Joe's moral responsibility should be. Your argument should invoke the relevant criteria you've already demonstrated, be consistent with the facts, chosen position, as well as
self-consistent. Demonstrate your reasoning explicitly and in detail while avoiding logical fallacies, especially beside the point, begging the question, or straw man.
Though a minimum length is not required, I recommend at least an 800-word essay. Use of third-party sources is discouraged, but if used, must be properly cited. Use of third-party material must not be used in
lieu of course material.
