A generous donor with a passion for African masks donated 3 million dollars to Barton for the construction of gallery space to display the African masks . Moreover , the space will provide much needed classroom space with the most up to date technology, likely attracting more students to the program. A preliminary investigation into the masks' provenance, however, discovered that these tourist items were actually stolen before being sold again. No one is asking for them back (yet). It will take more funds and time to uncover the full account of the theft. The donor has agreed that you can use some of the funds for this investigation, but they would like to keep the process private . But this option would also mean entirely cutting the budget for the classroom space . Use what you learned from the preparation materials, to come up with a proposal that considers the needs of the college , the donor, public opinion, and of course the ethical dilemma of stolen objects . What should be done and why ?
