New Delhi Festivals and Holidays
Republic Day- January- This holiday marks the day India became a nation. It is celebrated in New Delhi with a huge parade, bands, fireworks, and folk dancing.

Holi - March - This festival welcomes spring. The night before, bonfires burn all over New Delhi. The next day, people celebrate the arrival of spring by spraying each other with colored powders and paint.

Rakhi - August - This festival celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Sisters tie colorful threads on their brothers' wrists. Brothers promise to protect their sisters and give them gifts.

Children's Day - November - On this special day for children, schools have special programs and competitions. Students don't have to wear uniforms, and they receive special treats. Television stations feature children's shows all day.
