Your assignment is to draw a map of the United States that identifies significant items related to the period 1865-1914 that was part of the history that leads to America's direct engagement with Europe in World War I. You have a lot of freedom in this project. You may print a map from a page like this (https://www.waterproofpaper.com/printable-maps/united-states.shtmlLinks to an external site.) and then use colored pencils or pens or markers to bring the story of 1865-1914 to life with your own drawings, or you may design a map of your own on a computer, or you could try your hand at sketching a new map entirely on your own. Here are the absolute requirements: 1) You must note at least 5 individuals or groups of people (immigrants) on the map and identify them in a location where it makes sense. 2) You must use different colors or symbols in your illustrations. Feel free to use arrows or other notations as well. 3) You must note at least 5 industrial centers, or places where manufacturing occurred that would contribute to America's ability to lead a war effort. 4) You must note at least 5 relevant events from 1865 to 1914. 5) You must have at least 3 "break out" annotations where you explain a bit more the items you identify above using the textbook or other reading. In the end, please make the map look attractive but also legible enough that the person looking at it (me!) can get a decent understanding of U.S. history from this period, 1865-1914, from what you have illustrated.
