Would you expected similar levels or different levels of heterozygosity for y-linked vs. mitochondrial dna for sites free of selection? explain. g

Respuesta :

I would expect the same levels of heterozygosity. This is because, for y-linked genes, they are only passed down by men through the Y-chromosome. Similarly, mitochondria DNA is only passed down by females through their eggs since sperm does not carry mitochondria during fertilization.  Therefore most of these genes will be hemizygous in the population.
