Climax, falling action. resolution, and rising action are the choices. If so then i would say RISING ACTION because it shows that when Hally's mother calls, the plot seems to be going somewhere is if it is LEADING to something significant in the story such as his father coming home. It cant be climax because she calls multiple times through the story. It cant be resolution because she calls WAY before the climax is resolved. So based off of process and elimination alone I am almost certain that rising action is correct.

The repeated phone calls by Hally's mother contribute to that structural element known as rising action, increasing the tension in the play, as explained below.
What is rising action?
We call rising action that part of the plot that comes after the introduction, the part where things begin to happen. We can say it consists of a sequence of events that creates conflict in the story and, consequently tension that leads to the climax.
In the play '"Master Harold" ...and the Boys,' Hally's mother's repeated phone calls contribute to create that tension, which means it contributes to the rising action.
