So to solve this equation for x, we must first get x to one side
Start by subtracting 14 on both sides
x/6 + 14 = 18
       -14     -14
x/6 = 4
Now in order to get the fraction to go away, we must do the opposite which is multiplication. So multiply each side by 6
x/6 = 4
 x 6    x 6
Answer is X= 24
You'll have to simplify the equation, subtract 14 from both sides and then multiply both sides by 6:

[tex] \frac{x}{6}+14=18 [/tex]
[tex] \frac{1}{6}x + 14 = 18 [/tex] (simplify equation)
[tex] \frac{1}{6}x = 18-14 [/tex] (subtract 14 from both sides)
[tex] \frac{1}{6}x = 2 [/tex] (multiply both sides by 6)
[tex]x = 24[/tex]

Hope it helped,
