On the basis of Gauguin’s observation, he concluded that similarities in the sexes make the relationship easy for a man and a woman. Their state of nakedness gives their manners a natural innocence making a man and a woman are friends rather than lovers, living together in whatever life offers.

Together they take part in similar assignments with a similar action or a similar inactivity. There is something virile in the ladies and something feminine in the men.
