The two numbers are 30 and 36. I know this because when I did 10 and 16, I realized that if I went up 10 for each number, the sum would go up by 20. So I did 20 and 26, and got 46. Then I did 30 and 36, and the sum was 66.

It might be helpful too to write out the equation. x plus x + 6 = 66; that means to solve for x we solve: 2x + 6 = 66: or x = 30; if we know x (30) then we know the other number (x + 6) = 36. I find it helps to put the equation together with a single unknown variable. When you solve for x; you also find the other variable, because you’ve expressed it in terms of x; (x + 6)
