Wilson’s 14 points were a little too optimistic right after a war that affected many countries. When these points were introduced, Germany believed their “punishment” would not be that harsh, but when the Treaty of Versailles (not even close to Wilson’s 14 points)was the official settlement, Germany was shocked. They were faced with war reparations, a max amount of men in their military, with no tanks or subs allowed. Even a demilitarization of the Rhineland due to its location near France.
