I am really in the need of help right now. I'm not good with fractions so if you could help, it would be much apriciated (sorry if I spelled that wrong). This is based off of Estimating With Fractions and Mixed Numbers

The question is:

Mr. Garcia's class ate 3 2/3 (three and two thirds = Mixed Number) pizzas, Mrs. Rizzoli's class ate 4 1/8 ( four and one eighth = Mixed Number) pizzas, and Mrs. Tindal's class ate 3 1/4 (3 and one fourth = Mixed Number) pizzas. Use Benchmarks to estimate the total number of pizzas eaten by all three classes.

A. about 9

B. About 10 (My answer)

C. about 11

D. about 12

Please Help, and thank you!!!

Respuesta :

The correct answer is C.

Answer:

Given that Mr. Garcia's class ate  pizzas, Mrs Rizzoli's class ate  pizzas, and Mrs. Tindal's class ate  pizzas.

Using benchmarks, we estimate the total number of pizzas eaten by all three classes as follows: ,  and

Thus, the total number of pizzas eaten by all three classes is given by

Therefore, the total number of pizzas eaten by all three classes is about 11.
