The sum of the heights of a giraffe and a baby giraffe is 15m. If the baby giraffe has a height which is 2/3 that of the giraffe, what is the height of the baby giraffe?

baby giraffe: [tex]\frac{2}{3} x[/tex]

[tex]x + \frac{2}{3}x[/tex] = 15

[tex](3)x + (3)\frac{2}{3}x[/tex] = (3)15

3x + 2x = 45

5x = 45

x = 9

baby giraffe: [tex]\frac{2}{3} x[/tex] = [tex]\frac{2}{3}(9)[/tex] = 2(3) = 6

Answer: 6 m
