The accepted value for the melting temperature of sulfur is 388.5k Morgan measured the melting temperature as 391.0k. What is the percent error?

Respuesta :

Accepted value = 388.5 K

Experimental value (Morgan's value) = 391.0 K

The equation for percent error

[tex]\frac{experiemntal value - accepted value}{accepted value} *100[/tex]

It is the absolute value- I couldn't find the sign.

391.0-388.5= 2.5

Divide by 391.0 ≈ 0.0064 ( 2 sig figs bc considering 2.5)

Multiply by 100 to convert to percent

0.0064 = 0.64%

Percent error = 0.64%
