If y are the cookies he baked and x are the cookies he shared with his sister:
[tex]y = 6 + x[/tex]
You could also express this as a function (i dont know your school grade, so i dont know if you have been taught this):
[tex]f(x) = 6 + x[/tex]
if you haven't been taught functions, then just ignore this
