Hammurabi is best  remember today for his publication of a set of instructions.

Hammurabi who ruled between 1792 to 1750 B.C, was the sixth king of the first ruling dynasty of Babylonia. He issued the “Code of Hammurabi”, which he alleged to have obtained from Shamash (god of justice). His law codes gave more emphasis on the bodily trial of the perpetrator. It conducted specific penalties for each offence. This law was intended to limit what a wronged person was sanctioned to do in revenge.
