What does the Equal Pay Act state?
- The jobs must be about equal, however they don't have to be identical. Jobs are considered basically equal when their contents, not their names, are comparable.
- This law regulates all types of compensation, including salary, overtime pay, bonuses, stock options, profit sharing and bonus schemes, life insurance, allowances for cleaning or gas, reimbursement for travel expenses, and benefits.
- Discrimination in wages and benefits based on gender is prohibited by Title VII as well. As a result, a person who has a Title VII claim may simultaneously have one based on the Equal Pay Act.
