Hi TrinitySage15,

Well there are 6 types of factoring:

  • Greatest Common Factor
  • Grouping
  • Difference in Two Squares
  • Sum or Difference in Two Cubes
  • Trinomials
  • General Trinomials

The most common is GCF (Greatest Common Factor)

Steps:

  1. Write the prime factors for each number
  2. Underline or circle each common prime factor. (Every prime factor that is of a factor is for every number in the set).
  3. Then Multiplied all the underlined or circled numbers.
  4. That results the GCF

Hope This Helps!
