you move first the number without the variable to the other side with the opposite sign
-0.75p=0.25+2
-0.75p=2.25
then as -0.75 is multiplying you pass it to the other side dividing
p=2.25/-0.75
p=-3
Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other.
Isolate the p. Add 0.75p to both sides.
-0.75p (+0.75p) - 2 = 0.25p ( +0.75p)
Simplify
-2 = 1p
p = -2
-2 is your answer
