The area of a rectangle is directly proportional to each of it's dimensions ... length and width.

The area of a rectangle is related to the lengths of each side as the product of l*w (length and width).

The area of a rectangle is given by:

Where:

l: is the length

w: is the width

From the above equation, we can see that the area is proportional to the length and the width of the rectangle, that is to say, it depends on the sides of the rectangle.
