Let the number of calories in a banana split = x

one seventh of the calories in a banana = 1/7 x

The equation:

(1/7) x -  5 = 90

(1/7) x - 35  = 90       (Take LCM)

x - 35= 90 * 7

x - 35 = 630

x = 630 + 35

x = 665
