Lets calculate how much she spent in her day first :
$9 + $3 + $11 = 23$
She spent $23 during the day.
She still has $7 left in her pocket, which means that if you add the amout of money she has left and the amout of money she spent during the day, you'll be able to find out how much money she had at the beginning of the day!
$23 + $7 = $30
Jessica had $30 at the beginning of the day!
