Vivian is going to do some yard work, but she needs to leave her house at 2:00 to go to a football game. She is going to mow the lawn for 1 hour and 15 minute, trim some bushes for 40 minutes, and put down some mulch Or 25 minutes. She will also need 30 minutes to shower and get dressed. What time should she start the work so that she’ll be ready at 2:00?

I suggest to convert all the work items into minutes, add them up, convert the result to hours and subtract from the time of leaving.

mowing 1hr15min=75min

trimming = 40 min

mulching = 25 min

shower = 30 min

total = 170 min = 2 hr 50 min

subtract 2 hrs from the departure time 2:00 to get 12:00 noon.

Then subtract the remaining 50 minutes from 12 noon to get 11:10am

so it takes her 2 hrs and 50 min to do everything she is wanting to do  so she needs to start everything she is wanting to do at around 11:10 or so.
