When we round to the tenths place we have to look at the hundredths place (2 places after the decimal to determine whether we round or not)


2.839       3 < 5 so leave it alone  2.8

2.764       6 > 5 so round up   2.8

36.89     9 > 5 so round up  36.9

1,534.739    3 < 5 so leave it alone  1534.7

Answer:

  • 2.839 rounded to its tenth = 2.800
  • 2.764 rounded to its tenth = 2.800
  • 36.89 rounded to its tenth =36.90
  • 1534.739 rounded to its tenth = 1534.700
