The movement of female suffrage to link with progressivism, allowed the progress towards better conditions or new policies such as the right to vote for all adults without distinction of race, religion or gender.

Women s rights defenders also developed intimate links with supporters of the temperance movement, who tried to dissuade alcohol abuse and promote greater family responsabilities among married men.

The movement also led to the development of nonpartisan organizations such as the League of Women Voters, which helped to educate women so that they can be informed voters and also to exercise their right to vote.
