Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States during the period of 1829 to 1837. He is considered as an advocate for democracy and supported peoples involving in politics.
Three actions which generated considerable division among the public were:
- The signature of the Indian Removal Act, which forced Native Americans to relocate from the South to Indian Territory.
- He supported the block of the sending of anti-slavery tracts through the postal service as he considered these actions were harmful to the union of the country.
- He is the only president who completely paid off the country's debt in 1835 as he considered there was a misuse of funds. He was opposed by Congress but ultimately achieved a majority and was able to fulfill this objective.
