Sociologists argue that children are brought up in set gender roles. The girls are given barbie dolls and mini kitchen toys and boys are encouraged to fight and play with guns. These gender roles are enforced naturally through the marketisation of goods. The instrumental and expressive roles that children are given are later used as gender scripts for future relationships.

Gender roles are personal and cultural. Gender roles determine roles of men and women in society. Learning plays an important role in the process of socialization. In family, boys are encouraged to play with guns whereas girls are encouraged to play with dolls and kitchen sets.

Girls are not allowed to go out, restricted within four walls and they are not given proper education because parents feel that they will leave after marriage and it is their son who will look after things.
