The falling action or the series of actions that follow the turning point of a  storyline. It comes after climax and helps the plot progress towards its end.

The falling action exists to reach the resolution of the  conflict and characters after the climax.

Because the major conflict in a text  is presented and developed in the rising action, tension builds  in this part of the story, and works its way up to the climax, crisis or turning point. After this, the falling action reaches the resolution of the conflict.
