Between the period of the 1800s and 1900s there was an expansion of the federal government that completely changed the lives of peoples in the United States. In this period the United States transformed to an industrial, urbanized nation characterized by technological innovations and an economic growth in the U.S with large scale agriculture and expansion of the federal government. The lives of peoples during this period changed as a result of social tensions that  had been brought by immigration, federal Indian policies, financial turmoils, and the increased demand for workers rights among women and minorities.
