“Fog" by Carl Sandburg

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

In a paragraph, discuss the use of figurative language in “Fog.” First, identify the type of figurative language that characterizes the poem, and then explain how that language is represented in the poem. Include a definition of the kind of figurative language that you discuss.

If you can come up with something it would be great preferably in the next 10 minutes. Its worth 50 pts.

In the first two lines, Sandburg introduces the subject and includes a strong metaphor throughout the poem. The arrival of the fog gives the reader the impression that it's slowly moving towards us. The use of the word "little" in "on little cat feet" emphasizes the fog's sneaky and quiet arrival. The metaphor of fog looking catlike lets you imagine the fog sprawled out on the harbor and city much like a cat. The break between lines brings feelings of anxiety as you don't know what the fog will do next. Them comes a sigh of relief as the fog moves on as said in the next line.
