Erica has math test scores of 93, 86, 82, 85, 77, and 89. The final exam in the
math class is worth 15% of the grade. A final score of 90 is required to get an A.
Erica’s school rounds grades to the nearest whole number. If only her test
scores determine the remainder of her grade is it possible for Erica to get an A?
Explain.

Respuesta :

Yup, it is possible.

With rounding, you either round down (number under 4) or up (number above 5).

Taking that into consideration, her scores would be 90, 90, 80, 90, 80, and 90.

"How? 93 and 86 would be 90 and 80, right?" you may think. Nope. We also take the whole number to find the answer.

Take 93. Is it closer to 90 or 100? 90, of course. What about 930, is it closer to 900 or 1,000? 900.

The same principle applies to all rounding equations.

Here's even some sample problems:

-Round 130 to the nearest hundred
-Round 1,300 to the nearest thousand
-Round 1,348 to the nearest hundred
-Round 480,329 to the nearest thousand
