An ion of an element has 30 protons, 32 neutrons, and 29 electrons. What is its charge AND how did you make that determination

Respuesta :

Elements are made of three types of sub atomic particles that are neutrons , protons and electrons.

While electrons orbit around the nucleus in energy levels, the nucleus is made of protons and neutrons.

Electrons are negatively charged, protons are positively charged and neutrons are neutral.

Number of neutrons don’t affect the charge of the ion as they are neutral in charge.

Number of electrons are 29 and number of protons are 30.

So there are 29 negative charges and 30 positive charges. The overall charge of the ion is the sum of these charges.

(+30) + (-29) = +1

The overall charge of the ion is +1
