(b) What is the phenotype of the offspring in the F1 generation?

PLEASE HELPAnswer the following questions using the Punnett square diagramsa What is the genotype of the offspring of the F1 generationb What is the phenotype o class=

Respuesta :

A. Genotype refers to the genetic makeup, so it is what is written in the boxes in the Punnett square. In This case the genotype is Gg.

B. Phenotype is the physical appearance based on the genotype. Since G-gray seed coat is dominant to g-white seed coat, any offspring that have G in their genotypes will have gray seed coats. Since all of the offspring possess the dominant allele G, they all have gray seed coats.

Based on the Punnett square diagrams given here,

(A) the genotype of the offspring  of F1 generation will be Gg.

(B) the phenotype of the offspring in the F1 generation will be having grey seed coat.

About genotype and phenotype

Genotype is basically the set of genes responsible for a specific genetic trait.

Here for the genotype for the color of the seed coat which is Gg for the F1 generation.

Phenotype characteristics describes the physical appearances based on the genotype of plant.

Since G is dominant allele  in the plant for grey seed coat, the offspring of  F1 generation having Gg genotype will have phenotype character of grey seed coat.
