A T-chart is used comparing two sides of a topic for example pros and cons or cause and effect.

A star diagram is used for organizing the characteristics of a single topic, a central space is used for displaying the topic, with each point showing or listing an attribute about the topic. In this diagram you can organize information into cause and effect with each point.

Because you did not want to get wet, you ran for shelter. The downpour (the cause) caused you to run for shelter (the effect).
