It is from the Perch-Merle cave located in France as many famous cave art sites have been discovered. It’s a polychrome painting meaning it uses multiple colours. The handprint was most likely a signature or a way for the artist to enter (spiritually) the world which they depicted.

The cave art describes the parietal art, which could be seen on the wall or ceilings of caves in different regions. It represents the tradition, culture, and values of different religion.

The given cave art is known as “Dappled Horses of Perch-Merle.” It shows a panel of horses similar to tigers or leopards. It is historical and older than 29,000 years.  

Thus, art on caves was carved during 25,000 B.C.E. The cave arts were most popular in France in the hillside of Cabrerets in the Lot department.
