The first wave consisted of mostly Irish, German immigrants. Or, rather, mostly Western Europeans.

The wave of us immigration in the late 1800's different from the previous wave of immigration as in the change in the social status of immigrants got changed which helps them to establish themselves differently.

Immigrants are refers to people who shift to another country in search of better opportunities of living to survive. This movement of shifting from one place to another is called immigration.
Before 1890, the majority of immigrants were from northern and western Europe. The majority were protestants, had some education and they acclimated to life in the United States without a problem.
Southern and eastern European immigrants dominated those from other parts of Europe around 1890. These included people of various religions who were impoverished, illiterate, and came from non-democratic nations.
