2) They came toward me and I broke into a wild run toward home.

3) Granny's home in Jackson was an enchanting place to explore.

4) I realized that they could not understand what I was felling and I kept quite.

5) I had begun to notice that my mother became irritated when I questioned her about whites and blacks, and I could not quite understand it.

Also I would really appreciate it if you could briefly explain why they're that structure.
Thanks

First of all, rules: a complex sentence must include a dependant phrase and an independent phrase. ex- in number one, "though I had not known why he was absent," cannot be its own sentence. Therefore, it is a dependant phrase. An independent phrase can be its own sentence. a complex sentence must include both of these, dependant and independent.

1. complex - has dependent and independent phrases.

2. compound - contains two subjects and two predicates. (both are independent phrases).

3. simple - contains only one subject and one predicate.

4. compound - contains two subjects and two predicates. (both are independent phrases)

5. compound - contains two subjects and two predicates. (both are independent phrases).
