Take the width and length, and multiply them by each other, when working out area for 4 sided shapes.

Tara's bedroom floor area: 
9 * 8 = 72 square feet
Jody's bedroom floor area:
7 * 10 = 70 square feet

72 > 70, Tara has the bigger room
