Scientific experts have determined that the earth is about 4.6 billion years old. This scientific estimation was made be examining decay rates of specific radioisotopes found within fragments of a meteor within the Canyon Diablo. Specifically the radioactive decay of Uranium was compared to the relative abundances of other earth elements.
