be careful not to forget the accents : à côté de, près de, à gauche de, à droite de...
cote and côté don't have the same meaning ....

à côté de (next to)
1- La boulangerie est à côté de la boucherie.
(the bakery is next to the butcher.)

près de (near)
2- Mes parents habitent près de l'école.
(My parents live near the school.)

à gauche de (left side of)
3- Sur la photo, Marie est à gauche de Théo.
(on the picture Marie is on the left side of Théo.)

devant (in front of)
4- Florian est assis devant l'ordinateur.
(Florian is sitting in front of the computer)

à droite de (on the right side of)
5- Sur la photo, Théo est à droite de Marie.
