Hi... So for this homework question It says " Amy bought 2 and 1/2 gallons of paint for $60. What is the cost for 1 gallon of paint? " so if you make the 2 and 1/2 improper to 2 and then you make the equation 60/2/1 and flip 2/1 to 1/2 and times those you get 2/2 do that equals 1 whole. Then you go to the top and do 60 times 1/2 and you get 60/120/1 would you put that or do you put something else like 120/1 ?

I'm sorry but the solution you proposed was a bit hard to follow, so I'll just post my solution: we convert "2 and 1/2" to a single fraction:

[tex]2+\dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{4}{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{5}{2}[/tex]

So, we know that 5/2 gallons cost 60 dollars, which means

[tex]\dfrac{5}{2}g=60[/tex]

To find the cost of a single gallon, we have to solve the equation for g:

[tex]g = 60\cdot \dfrac{2}{5} = 24[/tex]
