A lot of people, especially teenagers and young adults, choose to backpack across a continent to avoid spending too much money. Backpacking can be really fun when done with a group of friends. Some backpack solo as well, but this can get a little tricky. There are always more risks involved when you travel to a place that is unfamiliar to you. It could be a little dangerous if you are all alone. When you are with a group of people you trust, it becomes easier to pool resources and come up with ideas when stuck in a tricky situation. Also, you may not know the local language of the place you are visiting, and it helps when you have someone in your group who does.
