In a paragraph, explain 2–3 ways in which the Spanish-American War influenced the emergence of the United States as a world power.

Respuesta :

The US victory in the Spanish American War resulted in the US gaining possession and control of many new territories. In doing so the US was making their presence known in the Caribbean with Puerto Rico and the Pacific with Guam; two places in which war broke out they’d have a battle ground.

Later on the US showed interest in Hawaii as it is a bigger land, in which islands were ruled by Queen Liliuokalani, who took control over the islands early 1800’s and began to pass anti-American laws. As these laws hurt business the Dole's and other private American businessmen funded a revolution and took over Hawaii. The USS Boston, a US Battleship, sat in the Harbor making any Hawaiian resistance impossible. In 1895 Hawaii became a US territory.

The main cause of the Spanish-American War on April 21, 1898 is the explosion of the U.S.battleship in Havana Harbor and to support Cubans and Filipinos against the Spanish rule.

The victory of America in the war help redefined its national identity and also serves as emergence of the U.S. ability to enter into international affairs.

Also, the war does influence United States as a world power because of the vast territory gained as a result of the victory which led to gaining possession and control of many new territories.
