With the telephone being used in common houses it allows people to communicate with others without the necessity of being face to face. That began to make that information travel faster than ever before.

A contemporary analogy in our lifetime is the invention of the smartphone. It completely changes the lifestyle of people around the world. In the palm of your hand, you have more information than ever before and access to talk with almost anyone in the world.
