A stranger called this morning
Dressed all in black and grey
Put every sound into a bag
And carried them away
The whistling of the kettle
The turning of the lock
The purring of the kitten
The ticking of the clock
The popping of the toaster
The crunching of the flakes
When you spread the marmalade
The scraping noise it makes
The hissing of the frying-pan
The ticking of the grill
The bubbling of the bathtub
As it starts to fill
The drumming of the raindrops
On the window-pane
When you do the washing-up
The gurgle of the drain
The crying of the baby
The squeaking of the chair
The swishing of the curtain
The creaking of the stair
A stranger called this morning
He didn't leave his name
Left us only silence
Life will never be the same.

Answer:

3. bubbling of the bathtub

4. -It makes the poem mysterious.

-"A stranger called this morning"

-The stranger left the people in the house in silence so maybe he called to tell them a loved one had died. You can ramble something here idk.

Wait where’s the alliteration? I could only find “the ticking”

To me, the rhythm makes the actions listed ‘normal’ like its repeated and continuous (I dunno if you can use that as an answer but go off)

“A stranger called this morning” is repeated

Life will never be the same because the normal sounds and rhythm of life will be taken away and you will never be able to hear the things listed again.

(not very in-depth but if you have no idea for homework, you gotta do what you gotta do haha)
