Respuesta :
Apart from the Aztecs, the Olmec, Zapotec, and Maya civilizations also had territories on the Yucatan Peninsula.
Explanation:
The civilizations that developed in what is now Mexico seem to defy what was thought of to be the basis for forming a civilization, that being a large river, with large valley, and fertile soil. This was not the case in the Yucatan Peninsula though, as the civilizations were developing in a tropical rainforest, which didn't really offered good conditions for a civilization to develop. Somehow the people managed to do so, and actually the Yucatan turned out to be an epicenter for emerging civilizations.
Such civilizations were:
- Olmec
- Maya
- Toltec
- Aztec
The Olmec civilization was the first one to develop on the Yucatan, and it set the basis for the development of the later civilization, having huge impact on the people of the region. The Maya civilization later emerged on the foundations of the Olmec one, and from the Maya, the Toltec and Aztec ones emerged. Apart from the Aztecs, the other three civilizations had Yucatan as their homeland, while the Aztecs developed on the central plateau, but managed to conquer parts of the Yucatan.
