Physical characteristics of an environment is important when deciding what crops to cultivate. The physical characteristics that affect the decision of sowing a particular crop of plant include;
- if the soil is fertile (fertile soil is extremely nutrient rich and benefited the growth of a plant or crop)
- land degradation (if the land has been overworked and can't produce anything beneficial, a planter will not want to cultivate in that area)
- volatile climate (if the climate continuously changes and constantly moves up and down, then the plant or crop cannot adapt to these weather conditions. Whereas, if the climate is steady and rarely has a drastic change, the crop will flourish)
Thus, the physical characteristics of an environment dramatically affect a planters decision of what drops to cultivate.
