A release factor is a protein that allows for the termination of translation by recognizing the termination codon or stop codon in an mRNA sequence. They are named so because they release new peptides from the ribosome.

The formation of protein from the mRNA in the ribosome is called translation. The process of translation works in the cytoplasm of the cell.

These are the process of translation:-

  • Charging of tRNA
  • Amino acid coding
  • UTR

These are the way of protein formation, in translation, the mRNA is bound to the smaller subunit of the ribosome and codes for the amino acid to join to make a protein chain.

The releasing factor helps remove the mRNA from the ribosome at the untranslated region to stop the translation.
