James wanted to lay a circular carpet in the dining room of his house. The dining room is 7m long and 6.5m wide. The diameter of the circular carpet is 3.5m. Find the area of the room which was not covered by the carpet. = 22/7

Area of room: 7 x 6.5 = 45.5 sq. M.

Area of rug: 22/7 x 1.75^2 = 9.625 sq. M.

Area of loot not covered: 45.5 - 9.625 = 35.875 sq. M. ( round answer if needed)
